SCOTTSBLUFF–Theatre West will hold auditions for local actors, singers, and dancers on March 23rd for the 2019 Season. Three main stage musicals will be produced in the new Judy Chaloupka Theatre at the Platte Valley Companies Arts Center on the campus of WNCC. Rehearsals begin June 3 for “FOREVER PLAID” and “SHREK”, and rehearsals for “THE MUSIC MAN”  begin approximately June 24.

All roles in the shows are currently available, with the exception of Shrek, which will be played by local favorite Ty Hebbert. This year’s season requires a wide range of actor types and ages. Ages 9 and above are invited to audition.

Last year, Theatre West toured an original 10-minute musical written by Lauren Newell and Tami Lippstreu to libraries and community centers throughout the Panhandle. The tour was a great success. Lauren and Tami have written another new musical titled TO THE MOON, WITH LOVE, which celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Buzz Aldrin’s first steps on the moon. Casting will feature local Junior High and High School age students. Rehearsals begin June 3; tours will be finished by June 27.

Actors and singers should prepare a song from a musical that shows their abilities. Please bring sheet music to your audition; an accompanist is provided. Dancers should prepare a short routine to music of their choosing. You may be asked to read a brief excerpt from one of the shows, which will be provided to you at the audition.

Auditions will take place on the WNCC campus in Williams Building room 105 beginning at 1 p.m. Sign-up begins at noon; last chance to sign-up will be 3 p.m.
