Patrick Newell – Artistic Director – 2017 Season

                               – 2017 Music Director –  “ALWAYS……PATSY CLINE”                                                                                  

                            –  2017 Co-Director/Music Director –  “THE SECRET GARDEN”

Patrick returns to Theatre West for his fifth season as Music Director and his first season as Artistic Director. Shows he has music directed at Theatre West include Les Miserables, Rent, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Buddy Holly Story, The Addams Family, Godspell, and Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka. A former faculty member of the University of Wyoming, Patrick currently travels the U.S as an actor, director, and educator. Activities in the past year include performing in The Buddy Holly Story at The Palace Theater in the Dells, teaching workshops on Belt Singing techniques in Los Angeles, Oklahoma (University of Oklahoma), Illinois (Principia College), Tennessee (University of Memphis), and Virginia (Christopher Newport University), and Music Directing productions in Los Angeles, Illinois, Wisconsin, and (of course) Nebraska. A proud teacher of the Sweetland Belt Technique, Patrick’s students perform Off-Broadway and on National Tours, on Cruise Ships, in Regional LORT Theaters, and include recording artists in Los Angeles and Chicago.  He has a lovely wife who is also his best student, and is proud to finally be making music with his nephew Morgen.

James Alexander Bond – 2017 Stage Director – “ALWAYS……….PATSY CLINE”

                              – 2017 Stage Director –  “LUCKY ME” 

From New York to England and regionally across America, James has directed more than 250 productions, including over two thirds of Shakespeare’s canon, numerous musicals and many new works. In 2012, he set a personal record with five separate productions running concurrently in four different states. In schools, summer intensives, privately, and as a Broward College professor, James has taught directing, playwriting, acting, comic improve, scene study, theatre history, musical theatre, Shakespeare, and audition technique and preparation. He has held key directing and production positions on a number of independent feature films. This year he will be featured in the upcoming film, The Other Fellow – a documentary about living with the famous name, James Bond. His commercial for palacacino.com can be seen on TV presently in the tri-state area. A versatile artist, one of his favorite freelance gigs was judging the 2011 Miss Virginia United States Pageant. Previously at Theatre West he directed GodspellThe Adams Family, and Spamalot, Buddy Holly, and Willy Wonka. James holds a BFA in Theatre Management from Ithaca College and an MFA in Directing from the University of California at Davis. Lisa Betz Marquez –  2017 Dialogue Director / Co-Director – “THE SECRET GARDEN”

Lisa Betz-Marquez is pleased to be co-directing The Secret Garden this season at Theatre West.  Lisa played Mrs. Gloop in last season’s Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Most recently, she appeared as Betty in The Foreigner; Berthe in Boeing, Boeing; and The White Witch in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe at WNCC. Directing credits include Lying in State, Many Moons, and Sea Girl. Favorite professional acting credits include Olivia in Twelfth Night, Ruth in Blythe Spirit, and Linda Loman in Death of a Salesman. Lisa is the owner of Prairie Arts Gallery & Yoga Studio, in Gering, where she teaches Yoga and practices Reiki.


Kris Kontour –  2017 Set Designer / Technical Director  

Kris is excited to to be the Technical Director with Theater West this summer. This is his second year with theater west. Kris recently designed and built the set for “Nanna’s Naughty Knickers” for Stage III in Casper WY where he also directed “Death by Design” for Stage III Theater in Casper WY last winter. His last known works were in Chicago where he directed “Twelfth Night” and “A Shot in the Dark.” Also in Chicago he spent some time as technical director for the Den Theater Company, and with Dead Writers Theater Collective for the productions of “Emma,” “Tea with Eddie and Fitz,” and “the Vortex.” Kris also did the lighting design for “2013 Klingon Christmas Carol,” and set design for Broken Roads’ “Fault Lines.”



Tiffany Tabor Mackrill – 2017 Choreographer – “THE SECRET GARDEN”

Tiffany graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Arizona with a Fine Arts Degree in dance and was named 2003 Outstanding Dance Senior. She started her career as a dancer for Busch Gardens in Williamsburg Virginia. Tiffany is a former Radio City Rockette. She spent three seasons with the Rockettes in New York City, Dallas, Houston, and Detroit. Other credits include The Today Show, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Jazz Dance World Congress, Broadway Dance Center Showcase in NYC, and Salute to the Troops.  Tiffany is now the proud co-owner and teacher of many area dancers at Tabor Dance Academy in Scottsbluff. Tiffany is an award winning choreographer and has received numerous choreography and technical excellence awards. She is also co-coach for the Scottsbluff High School Drill Team, and creates and directs choreography for Scottsbluff High School, Theatre West, and other local productions. Tiffany continues dancing through life with her husband Jared Mackrill and their beautiful daughter Quinn and handsome son Ren.
